Clomiphene Citrate and Enclomiphene Citrate

OTHER FORMS OF HORMONE OPTIMIZATION

Not every man with low testosterone symptoms needs—or wants—traditional testosterone replacement therapy. For select patients, medications that stimulate the body's own testosterone production may be considered as part of an individualized treatment plan.

At EverStrong Men’s Health, we evaluate the underlying hormonal picture and help determine which approach is appropriate for your health, symptoms, and goals.

Low testosterone doesn’t automatically mean TRT.

We look at symptoms, hormone signaling, health history, and fertility goals before recommending options.

🧬

Natural Production

Some therapies may stimulate the body’s own testosterone production.

👨‍👩‍👧

Fertility Aware

Fertility goals should be part of the treatment decision from the beginning.

🚫

No Testosterone Injections

Alternative approaches may help appropriate patients avoid traditional TRT.

🧪

Hormone Testing

Lab patterns help determine whether stimulation may be appropriate.

WHAT IS HORMONE OPTIMIZATION?

Looking Beyond Traditional Testosterone Replacement

Traditional testosterone replacement therapy provides testosterone from an external source.

Certain medications, including clomiphene citrate and enclomiphene citrate, work differently. Rather than directly replacing testosterone, they may stimulate hormonal signaling that encourages the testes to produce more of the body's own testosterone.

These approaches may be considered for select men depending on the cause of low testosterone, laboratory findings, symptoms, and fertility goals.

Why consider this approach?

Support natural testosterone production

Consider fertility preservation goals

Avoid testosterone injections or topical therapy when appropriate

Individualized treatment based on labs, symptoms, and history

THE EVERSTRONG APPROACH

We Don’t Simply Chase a Testosterone Number

We work to understand why it’s low, then discuss available options, expected benefits, limitations, potential risks, and alternatives.

Consultation

We review your symptoms, health history, medications, lifestyle, and goals.

Laboratory Testing

Appropriate testing helps determine whether testosterone deficiency is present and establishes baseline health information.

Personalized Treatment

If TRT is medically appropriate, your provider determines a treatment plan based on your individual needs.

Ongoing Monitoring

Follow-up visits and lab testing help evaluate response, testosterone levels, hematocrit, blood pressure, and other markers.

WHAT CAN TRT HELP WITH?

Potential Improvements for Men With Confirmed Testosterone Deficiency

For men with confirmed testosterone deficiency, testosterone therapy may improve certain symptoms associated with hypogonadism. Individual responses vary.

1

Sexual Desire

Some men may notice improvement in sexual desire when low testosterone is part of the cause.

4

Bone Health

Testosterone may play a role in bone health in men with deficiency.

2

Energy & Motivation

Treatment may help symptoms related to confirmed testosterone deficiency.

4

Related Anemia

TRT may help anemia associated with testosterone deficiency in appropriate patients.

3

Lean Body Mass

TRT can affect body composition in men with testosterone deficiency.

4

Realistic Expectations

TRT is not a guaranteed solution for fatigue, weight loss, muscle gain, sexual dysfunction, or normal aging.

WHAT CAN TRT HELP WITH?

The Right Choice Depends on the Bigger Picture

Your symptoms, lab results, underlying physiology, fertility goals, and overall health all matter.

Hormone Optimization / Stimulation

  • Encourages endogenous testosterone production

  • May be considered when fertility preservation is important

  • Requires appropriate hormone testing and monitoring

  • Not appropriate for every cause of low testosterone

Testosterone Replacement Therapy

  • Provides testosterone directly

  • Available as injections, topical preparations, oral medications, and other formulations

  • Can suppress natural testosterone and sperm production

  • Requires ongoing medical and laboratory monitoring

The goal is to understand the cause, compare your options, and build a plan around your health.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions About Alternative Hormone Optimization

Is Clomid the same as testosterone?

No. Clomiphene does not provide testosterone directly. It affects hormonal signaling that can stimulate the testes to produce more testosterone.

Can this approach help preserve fertility?

For some men, stimulating endogenous testosterone production may be considered when fertility is important because exogenous testosterone can suppress sperm production. Individual fertility evaluation may still be necessary.

Will I need blood work?

Yes. Appropriate laboratory testing and follow-up monitoring are important when managing hormonal therapy.

Is Clomid FDA-approved for low testosterone in men?

No. Clomiphene is FDA-approved for certain forms of female infertility. Its use in men for testosterone deficiency is considered off-label.

Is enclomiphene FDA-approved?

No. Enclomiphene is not currently an FDA-approved prescription drug in the United States.
